25 August 2013 - Kiara gave birth to 2 beautiful kittens today! Keep coming back to this page as it will be updated daily!

Buck: Simba (BEW) Doe: Kiara (BEW) DOB: 25/08/13

26 August - Kiara's kits are doing well, they look very healthy with nice round tummies. Kiara visited the little babies in the night and gave them a fresh, thick covering of fluffy white fur. She definitely looks like she knows what she is doing! Hopefully the kits will turn into a couple of stunning lionheads and win lots of shows! :)

27 August - It's amazing how much they have changed in just a few days! They are already look so much bigger than when they were born. It's hard to see in the picture but they are starting to grow some fuzzy white fur! They were incredibly active when I visited them this morning, one even thought that if they kicked hard enough they could leap straight out of the nest! I'm really looking forward to watching these little guys grow!

28 August - The kits seem to be doing alright, I'm a little worried about one of them (the one on the right in the pic) as it looks like it has a slightly deformed head. Apart from the head it seems fine, it was just as active as the other kit when I got it out of the nest, and is roughly the same size, maybe a little smaller. And except for the head all its body parts seem to be in proportion to each other. Hopefully it will be alright :s . It looks as if the kits may be double maned as they have a v shaped line of fur on their hindquarters, I'll try and get a clear picture of it for tomorrow. :)

29 August - You can just about see the v in the pictures below, I highlighted it in red just to make it a bit clearer. The kit with the round head seems to be doing ok, it was just as, if not more active than the other kit. It is definitely smaller in size, but always has a round stomach so must be feeding. The other kit looks very healthy and is growing fast! Hopefully the little guy survives :)

10 September - Star and Zak :)

09 September - Hydro passed away today. He was still alive at around 10am but he didn't look very well at all. Then when I came to check up on him at 12 he was gone. Hopefully it wasn't too painful for him :( . Now it's just Starry in the nest. Her ears are standing up now and her eyes are a deep blue. And she still looks like a girl! Hopefully she won't get too lonely being in the nest by herself.

08 September - We almost lost Hydro today, he somehow managed to find his way out of the nest.I was so close to thinking he had passed away, he wasn't moving and I couldn't see him breathing. I was about to take him out when all of a sudden his back legs moved and he opened his mouth slightly. The poor guy was absolutely freezing so I warmed him up in my hands until he was starting to move again and then I popped him back into the nest next to star. I came back a few hours later and he was scrabbling around like normal when I moved the layer of fur from off of the nest. His head feels different now though, its a lot softer :s. Star is as healthy as ever. The kits are 2 weeks old today.

07 Sept - Star's eyes are open! And she is getting fluffier every day. Hydro is still hanging in there, he is really not looking good though.

05 September - Zak (my dog) met star for the first time today! He was very well behaved, but absolutely fascinated at the same time :D . Star didn't seem bothered at all, she (Star looks a lot like a girl at the moment!) was more interested in Zak's doughnut toy :). Hydro is still alive, I don't want to stress him out to much by taking him out of the nest and forcing to hold up that huge head :(.

04 September - Unfortunately it looks like Hydro won't be around for much longer. He's starting to look really bad, this morning he seemed alright but when I checked on him this afternoon he was barely moving and I could feel every bone in his tiny body. As you can see from the pic he just curled up in my hands and lied there motionless. I'd be surprised if he made it through the night. On a cheerier note I found Star exploring the hutch today. His eyes still aren't quite open yet though so I popped him back into the nest. His eyes look very close to opening.... :)

03 September - Poor Hydro's head seems to be getting bigger and bigger, he can barely lift his head up anymore :( . It looks like Star's eyes may be close to opening though. :)

02 September - Both kits are alive and healthy. They should be opening their eyes soon, I can't wait!

01 September - The little kits are a week old today! I've decided to give the kits a name just so that I don't have to keep calling them the little kit, the big kit etc. The one with the domed head is Hydro, and the other one is Star :) Star is doing extremely well, and Hydro seems alright at the moment, he is beginning to get a little less active, but he might have just been sleepy when I got him out. Its hard to tell but I think his head is getting even bigger, I'm not sure he is going to last much longer :(

31 August - Not much has changed since yesterday, they both seem strong and healthy. Although the kit with the domed head almost seems like it has stopped growing. The other kit seems to have a really calm personality. It tries as hard as they can to leap out of the nest when I move the fur but as soon as they are in my hands they curl up and go straight back to sleep! Which is the complete opposite to how the little kit acts, it just can't keep still! It runs across my hands as fast as possible a bit like a hamster would, its a shame it won't survive, it has such a funny character.

30 August - I did some research and I think the kit with the domed head has something called Hydrocephalus, or 'Water on the Brain'. Unfortunately it looks like it won't survive past 2 weeks, although it looks healthy at the moment. The other kit is getting stronger everyday and the size difference is really obvious now. The kit with the domed head is atleast half the size of the other kit.
